Specialty Consulting, Inc. was retained by City Colleges of Chicago (CCC) to conduct emergency cleanup and removal of asbestos containing material (ACM) in Room 303 of Harold Washington College. A general contractor disturbed suspect ACM in the work area without following the proper procedures. SPC tested material and confirmed that it was ACM. SPC provided design for the cleanup of the work area as well as the removal of remaining ACM in the work area. Regulatory authorities were contacted and approval to begin asbestos work immediately was obtained in order to keep the aggressive construction schedule.
In response to an emergency, SPC provided asbestos testing, remediation design development, asbestos abatement, abatement oversight, and air monitoring on rush turn-around-time (TAT) basis. Contamination cleanup procedures and abatement design were prepared by licensed asbestos project designer.
