SPC prepared investigative report to document the existing conditions, utilizing non-destructive testing methods and structural analyses, provide recommendations, and include cost impact. Completed repair design construction / bid documents for the repair of concrete mat foundation. Provide bidding assistance, construction administration, construction progress reports, oversee contractor payment reviews, closeout and conduct final walk through in near future.
Recommendations
Repair existing areas of concrete deterioration at surface of concrete slab and mat foundation. Remove loose, spalled and delaminated concrete, repair cracks, and other distress. Clean and prepare for repairs, utilizing embedded galvanic anodes for corrosion prevention due to high chloride content in existing concrete as a result of exposure to road salts from trucks.
Install concrete overlay over entirety offoundation surface, once repairs are completed to mitigate potential structuraldeficiencies associated with repeated loading over the mat foundation/floor byhighway maintenance trucks.
Project goals have been successfully met to date. A key challenge involved evaluating and repairing a unique structure, which required a thorough understanding of its original design and performance characteristics. SPC conducted detailed research and structural analysis to develop appropriate and effective repair solutions tailored to the specific conditions of the facility, ensuring long-term performance of the floor system.
